Originally from Essex County- Lynn, Massachusetts, Periangilly Beltré attended Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts where she graduated cum laude. She obtained a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish Literature. Upon graduation she moved to New York where she attended the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law- Yeshiva University.
Periangilly graduated from Cardozo in January 2005 where she earned her J.D. with a concentration in corporate law. There, she was a member of the school’s Women’s Law Journal and its Immigration Clinic. Her focus throughout law school was to learn the inner workings of the judiciary and serve poor and underserved communities. Periangilly held various judicial internships throughout law school and worked with the Legal Aid Societies of New York, New York and Atlanta, Georgia.
She was admitted to practice law in the states of New York and New Jersey in 2005 and became a member of the Massachusetts Bar in 2011. She is also a member of the following federal bars: Southern District Court of New York and the District Court of New Jersey.
Prior to entering private practice, Periangilly was a Judicial Clerk for the State of New Jersey, Superior Court in Ocean County. She clerked for the Presiding Judge of the Criminal Part. In addition to her responsibilities performing legal research and analysis of complex legal questions concerning criminal pre-trial motions (probable cause, suppression of evidence, dismissal of Indictments, mental capacity, & sentencing issues), Superior Court appeals (Pre-Trial Intervention denials, Drug Court eligibility, and Municipal Court de novo appeals), and bail matters, Periangilly also created various internal manuals to assist future clerks in areas of bail forfeiture and exoneration matters, Superior Court appeals and Fourth Amendment issues.
Attorney Beltré is a member of several bar associations and non-profit organizations and is an active member of her community in Essex County.
